EMDR Therapy: How It Works, Who It Helps, and What Makes It Different
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured form of psychotherapy that was originally developed to help people process traumatic and distressing experiences. Today, it is one of the better-established trauma-focused therapies, particularly for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Research has found that EMDR can significantly reduce PTSD symptoms, and recent reviews have found it can be comparable in effectiveness to other trauma-focused therapies.
